We’re delighted to be recruiting for two Makaton signing and singing choirs, with support from Devon Council’s Growing Communities Fund.
Makaton Jukebox began in Spring 2022. A small choir of people from the Learning Disability community (carers, teaching assistants, partially-verbal adults) came together to sing and sign well-known songs. With the help of our brilliant singing teacher these were then performed acapella, in two part harmonies, with Makaton signs at a professional event. In between songs, people shared their stories.
The project was made accessible with an offer of free enabling and a payment to each singer towards costs and expenses.
If you would like to be part of the second round of this project, please get in touch! You’ll join like-minded people in a no-pressure environment, have a laugh, learn some signs, and gain confidence with singing.
